Eastern Cape Hotels

The Eastern Cape is one South African province that really does have something for everyone, whether you want to fill your camera with photos of The Big 5, enjoy a sun drenched holiday by the sea, or experience the excitement of a city break in Port Elizabeth or East London.  The scenery is just as diverse and ranges from the lush green of the Tsitsikamma Forest to the rugged wilderness of Biaanskloov. The weather also varies, depending on where you go, with some parts of the province, Port Elizabeth for example, experiencing almost year round sunshine, while other areas further up north can get quite chilly in the winter.

The province is served by East London airport and Port Elizabeth airport, both of which are relatively small but efficient airports offering flights within South Africa. The majority of the passengers through both are tourists coming to explore the wonders of the Eastern Cape area.

Eastern Cape hotels span everything from luxury sea-facing palaces to luxury game lodges and everything in between, so it’s fair to say that with a little hunting you’ll find any number of hotels that will suit your style and budget. If you have come to the area to get up close and personal to the spectacular wildlife that the province is famous for, then you should definitely take a look at the Kariega Game Reserve, where you can stay in either a 4 or 5 star luxury lodge.  This privately owned 9000 hectare game reserve supports five different eco systems and is home to more than 25 species of game, including lion, elephant, buffalo, leopard, white rhino and hippo. After a long day spent out hiking or driving around the reserve, you can either unwind in the luxury spa or swim in one of the beautiful river pools. Mountain biking and canoeing are also options. Children 11 years and older are welcome at Kariega, but it’s not really an ideal place to take small people!

For a truly magical stay in the Tsitsikamma forest region, take a look at Ttitsikamma Lodge, situated in the picturesque Garden Route. Here you’ll have your own cabin, equipped with a spa bath, TV and mini fridge and you can expect a warm friendly service from the staff of this privately owned lodge. Fresh mountain air, stunning scenery, and within walking distance of the blue waters of the Indian Ocean make it the ideal spot for a relaxing break where you can fully recharge the batteries.

If you’re a fan of water sports and would prefer to be right on the sand, then you can’t go far wrong with The Beach Hotel in Port Elizabeth. It’s located right opposite the very popular Hobie beach and Shark Rock pier and is right next door to the Boardwalk Casino and Entertainment Complex. The hotel is also just a short drive from a number of popular game reserves, so you’ll have the best of everything South Africa has to offer by booking your stay here.  The Beach Hotel is rated four stars and is one of the most popular Eastern Cape hotels for weddings.

To make the most of your trip to the Eastern Cape, it’s worth giving yourself plenty of time to see as much of the province as you can and experience all the different flavours of this diverse and fascinating part of the country. To book your hotel now, visit www.rooms.co.za
